Kress Wine, located on the border of Cherry Hill and Haddonfield, has closed.

The former liquor store has ties to Colonial times.

The space where the liquor store was located had three different structures over the years. In the 1800s, one of the structures was Bates Tavern, another was The Blazing Rag Hotel, which is said to have been a stagecoach shop for travelers.

The Historical Society of Haddonfield wanted to preserve some of the timber from the structures, but Haddonfield Historian Katherine Tassini says there's not much left from the original structure that can be found.

The business was boarded up and vacant as of Sunday morning.

Because Kress Wine is now vacant, it makes it easier to market. The store has been on the market since last summer.

The owners left a note thanking customers for their loyalty and a friendly reminder to shop locally.
