Have you been on Facebook this afternoon (November 26), and noticed that old messages (like from 2010) were randomly popping up on your screen?

Yeah, it's happening. You're not alone.

In fact, I almost sent a message to an ex that was intended for a colleague of mine in Michigan this afternoon. That could have been really awkward for both of us, right?

I kind of thought it was just happening to me and went about my afternoon. But then another colleague mentioned they had the same issue.

So I started to suspect it may be more widespread. Sure, enough others are reporting the same issue:

For me, I actually closed about ten of those messages (they were from 2009 through 2012) with no problem. However, another batch of old messages appeared on my screen about ten minutes later (once again they were each at least 5 years old).

Who wants to be reminded of 2013? Not me!

“Some people are seeing older messages on Facebook.com. We are aware of the issue and are actively working to resolve it in as soon as possible,” a Facebook spokesperson told TheVerge.com.
