Jonathan Van Ness and Wilco Froneman are through.

The 31-year-old Queer Eye star confirmed their split on Instagram on Sunday, posting a photo of himself with Ariana Grande's "thank u, next" lyrics as the caption. Van Ness said he was ending 2018 "with a very gorg THANK U NEXT."

He asked fans not to attack Froneman, a rugby player, telling fans, "he doesn't need that anger." Van Ness added that he wasn't interested in seeing his ex "suffer."

"Please don't go in on Wilco, he doesn't need the anger & I don't want to see him suffer so just know I"m all good & sometimes people break up – Love you all so much," he wrote.

The reality star later addressed his post on Instagram, admitting it may have been a little premature. He wrote that he probably should have waited a little longer to confirm the split.

"I should've sat with myself a bit longer before I posted my most recent post. Wilco is a good person & sometimes things don't work out. Please don't attack him on his page," Van Ness pleaded. "Just let us move on, heal and enjoy your gorgeous New Years celebration! Your girl Jonathan is just fine. Biggest hug."

Hours before Van Ness revealed their split, he and Froneman appeared to be spending time together at an ice skating rink. Both posted Instagram videos and Stories from the outing. Froneman later shared a photo from the skating rink to confirm their split.

"Not only did Jonathan van Ness give me the best moments of 2018, but undoubtedly the best moments of my life. I will always love him and cherish every moment we shared. I encourage everyone to continue to send him love, no one deserves anything less," he wrote.

The couple recently celebrated Christmas together. Their split came as a complete surprise to fans.
