NJ’s Turtles Involved in a Illegal Wildlife Trade

The U.S. is known to have one of the most diverse and largest turtle population in the world.

NJ's Diamond black turtles have been smuggled into an illegal wildlife traffic industry that is set to be worth 19 billion dollars. These turtles are in high demand in Southeast Asia, Thailand, and Bangkok.

A Pennsylvania man was found trafficking 3,500 turtles from the NJ shores in the black market and is now looking at 35 years in prison. These turtles are now under close watch as illegal traffickers are continuing their hunt.
