Pennsylvanians … It’s Time To Make The Switch To REAL ID
Yes ... it's about that time.
PA is finally making the switch to REAL ID as of September 1st.
What does this mean exactly? It's just an updated version of your drivers licence or your state identification card. This new version, according to phillyvoice.com covers, 'The standard addresses, among other things, how states share databases domestically and internationally; what data is included on the card, and the process of encoding that data; and what documents must be present and recorded before a card is issued.'
This protocol is basically for security reasons, the REAL ID Act was adopted in 2005 in response to 9/11 and PA is one of the last states to make the change.
PA residents must make the switch by October 1, 2020 in order 'to board a domestic commercial flight or enter a federal building.'
