In 2015, Anthony Bourdain shocked food lovers everywhere when he said that Philly's best cheesesteak came from a restaurant in New Jersey.  Phillyvoice.com wrote about how Bourdain called the cheesesteak from Donkey's Place in Camden better than Philadelphia.

Then, in March of this year, Donkey's Place was featured on an episode of the ABC hit comedy, The Goldbergs.  (You can read more about that episode on the Donkey Place website).

So with all of this great press, why have I never tried Donkey's Place.  It's been around since 1943 and it's cheesesteaks don't look like the cheesesteaks I'm used to.  Here's how the New York Post described the sandwich when it named it the country's best cheesesteak..."Served on a soft, poppy-seed-sprinkled Kaiser roll, the sandwich features tender, griddle-sizzled steak and plenty of soft caramelized onions and melty American cheese."

The original location is located on Haddon Avenue in Camden and it's open Monday-Friday from 10am-6pm.  Wanna try it on the weekend?  You'll have to go the first Saturday of every month.  Otherwise, you'll be out of luck.
