A 32-year-old Plainsboro man was killed in a crash late Monday on Route 1 North in the West Windsor area.

The accident, which was reported around 9:30 pm, happened near The Square at West Windsor (prior to the Meadow Road overpass).

Police say that the Plainsboro man (who was driving a gray 2008 Infiniti G35) struck the concrete barrier and moved into the center lane where it struck in its back corner by a silver 2017 Hyundai Elantra.

The Elantra was driven by a 29-year-old male from North Brunswick.

Police say the Hyundai ended up nose first into the concrete barrier. The Infiniti went off the roadway and struck a PSE&G utility pole. The pole snapped, and the vehicle went on to strike a tree (roof first), as it became airborne.

The driver of the Infiniti was pronounced dead the scene.

Neither the driver of the Hyundai Elantra or his passenger (his wife) reported any injuries. The identities of those involved in the crash have been released.

The road was closed for three hours overnight as police conducted their investigation and PSE&G crews worked to repair the utility pole.
