The average tuition for public colleges is $14,092 "while the average cost at private colleges increased to $37,875." That's excluding books and rooming, you can tack on another $10K for those costs, according to nj.com.

However, it is said that New Jersey colleges do have some of the best financial aid packages - so these schools might not be a total highway robbery.

Regardless, it's smart to saving immediately for college as soon as possible because these prices are mostly likely only going to rise.
