UPDATE: In his debut on the ice, the Flyers new mascot, Gritty, took a bit of a tumble on the ice.

Watch here:

As you can see, it appeared as if Gritty was using a t-shirt cannon to fire swag into the crowd when he fell down.

Ouch! Talk about a rough first day on the job. Gritty faced a lot of criticism online and then took a tumble on live TV. At least, we're told the mascot is doing fine after his fall. He may just have a bruised ego.

Original story:
We're sure that a lot of fans are thinking the same thing we are about this new Philadelphia Flyers mascot and the first word that comes to mind is, "UGLY!"

Someone from the Flyers is surely going to tweet out saying, "JK here is the real mascot”, right?

We just don’t understand . . . who approved of this?

Ok now on a serious note, the Philadelphia Flyers welcomed their new mascot "Gritty" on Monday (9/24) at the Please Touch Museum. This is the second mascot that the Philadelphia Flyers have welcomed to the team.

Even though many may say it's a creepy looking mascot, others are thinking differently. Some are actually welcoming Gritty with open arms and ready for some selfies.

In 1976 the Flyers unveiled the former mascot, Slapshot, that didn't live for long. Honestly, that wasn't the greatest looking mascot either. Now with all that being said, let’s see how long Gritty sticks around for.

PS...if your child gets scared when they see Gritty for the first time, don't be shocked. The same thing happened to us.
