If you've spent any amount of time in South Jersey, you have had to have seen signs in various restaurant windows that say "Come Inside...BOOST! is here."  I've seen them a million times, but for some reason, I've never tried BOOST.  In fact, I've never even asked someone what BOOST! is.

I decided today was the day that I would try BOOST! (and find out the story behind this mysterious drink).

According to the company's website, BOOST! has been around for over 100 years.  It was invented be a pharmacist, Benjamin R. Faunce, in Riverside, NJ in 1905.  He served his soda invention in his pharmacy and eventually opened several soda shops in South Jersey.  The drink has had several names over the years, but officially became BOOST! in 1997.

I always BOOST! was just a slushy severed at restaurants, but apparently, it's also a bottled soda.  In fact, it comes in several flavor varieties --- sugar & caffeine, sugar & no caffeine, sugar free with caffeine, and no sugar & no caffeine.

I tried the original (sugar & caffeine) and it was sweet.  I would say that it was sweeter than Pepsi and much sweeter than Coke.  I also thought it had a little bit of a fruit flavor to it.  And I think I'm immune to the effects of caffeine, so I couldn't tell you if it gave me more of a "boost" than other drinks.  That's my BOOST! experience and I'd love to hear about yours.
