The Mummers Parade is just days away, and if you’ve never been it’s one of the best Philadelphia events of the year. It’s a cool and fun tradition for New Year’s Day in our area.

If you've never gone it's definitely something you need to see and experience at least once. You'll be amazed by the eccentric costumes, floats, routines, and live music.

Here’s everything we know about this year’s parade:

WHEN: According to Visit Philly, this year's parade is happening on Tuesday, January 1st. The parade begins at 9 am and will wrap around 5 pm.

WHERE: The parade starts at City Hall before heading down Broad Street. The parade ends at Broad and Washington Avenue.

GETTING THERE: If you can, public transportation is the recommended way of getting into the city for the parade. But if you need your car, parking in a garage is your best bet.

WHERE TO WATCH: The parade is free, but the sidewalks in the area fill up fast. So if you want a great view you might want to get there a little early to claim your space.

Yet, one of the best views is from the Parade Grandstand, but you'll need reserve tickets in advance. They can be purchased at the Independence Visitor Center located on 6th and Market for $20.

NOTE: tickets are not required anywhere else if you're watching the parade outdoors.

WEATHER: As of now, the weather shouldn't be bad. Forecasters are predicting a high of about 48 degrees on New Year's Day.

Unfortunately, however, the National Weather Service says there's a 30% chance of rain and snow showers that day. It's still a week away, so that forecast can, of course, change quite a bit before the New Year arrives.

WATCHING ON TV: If you can't make the parade, PHL 17 will be covering the parade live. Their telecast (which will be streamed online as well) begins at 9 am on New Year's Day. You can view their live stream here.
