NJ State Police Seek Help With Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash; Driver Fled on Garden State Parkway
State troopers are asking for help from the public as they continue to investigate a fatal hit-and-run crash last month.
Based on an investigation, authorities say at around 9:30 Monday night, October 9th, a 2004-2006 black Acura TL with an unknown New Jersey license plate was traveling northbound on Eastern Parkway in Irvington in the area of the 143C entrance ramp.
A 16-year-old male pedestrian from Newark crossed the roadway and was struck by the Acura.
Based on a witness account and surveillance footage, after the vehicle hit the juvenile, the driver continued north on the Garden State Parkway.
Troopers say the vehicle had front end, passenger side, and passenger sideview mirror damage.
As a result of the crash, the teenager died.
