Ex-Neshaminy bus driver charged with child porn possession

MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A former Neshaminy school district bus driver was charged after police say they found hundreds of images of child pornography on his devices.

Middletown Township police Lt. Steve Forman said they were tipped in late March by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about possible child exploitation. An investigation by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) traced the IP address to the home of Robert Derr, 75, in the Langhorne section of Middletown.

The execution of a search warrant led to the seizure of Derr's electronics and digital storage media. Forensics analysis found over 1,000 images of child pornography, according to Forman.

Derr surrendered to police on Thursday and was charged with possession of child pornography. He posted $100,000 bail and was released on the condition of no internet use and no contact with anyone under the age of 18.

Forman said Derr was a contracted driver for the Neshaminy School District when the search warrant was executed. Derr's employer and the district were notified leading to his immediate suspension. He later resigned from his position.

Superintendent: No inappropriate action towards students

In a statement to 6 ABC Action News Neshaminy School District Superintendent Jason Bowman said there is no evidence yet that Derr acted inappropriately towards any students.

Bowman said the district conducts background checks on all employees including those who work for contractors.

Over 9,000 students from Hulmeville, Langhorne, Langhorne Manor, Penndel, and the townships of Lower Southampton (including Feasterville and Trevose) and Middletown attend the Neshaminy school district, according to the district website.
