Chick-fil-A could be coming to Lawrence Township soon. The crazy popular fast-food chain has put in a proposal to open a restaurant on Route 1 in Lawrence Township. The plans have NOT been approved just yet by township officials.

There have been rumors for a while (and resident requests), but we have learned that this was an agenda item on the township planning board's meeting last night (December 16).

The application was presented during the meeting, but it was not finished, according to a township official, James Parvesse. He says that the application will continue again on January 27, 2020. Parvesse serves as the township's municipal engineer, zoning officer & planning board secretary.

"Chick-fil-A is happy to share that we are actively pursuing our first location in the Lawrenceville area," the company told us via a statement issued on Wednesday morning. "We look forward to working through the approval process with the city and are excited by the prospect of joining this vibrant community."

The public agenda was posted on the Township of Lawrence, NJ Facebook page, and residents quickly noticed that one of the agenda items (number 5), which was a preliminary and final major site plan review with a variance application for Chick-fil-A to be built at 2950 Brunswick Pike, on Route 1 North.

Here's a map showing that area:

The proposed location is right next to the newer Wawa and the McDonalds. There's an empty lot, with parking spaces already around it. It is, of course, located just before the busy intersection for Bakers Basin Road:

My first thought was that was a perfect location...easy in and easy out. But, what happens when the drive-thru line backs up, which it usually does. Uh oh.

We'll see what happens. One resident commented that the shopping plaza is already gridlocked, and Chick-fil-A will only make it worse. I bet all the nugget and waffle fry lovers in Lawrence and surrounding towns won't care about that one bit.

Other local Chick-fil-A locations include restaurants in Hamilton and Oxford Valley.

We'll let you know as soon as we hear more about the restaurant.
