Man admits guilt in Atlantic City taxi driver robbery

🚖 An Atlantic City man admitted robbing a taxi driver at gunpoint before firing a shot into the cab during a getaway attempt.
⚫ The driver handed over $100 and a cellphone, then chased the suspect, who fired through the taxi's windshield but missed.
⚖️ Davidson Dominique is set to be sentenced Aug. 18.

An Atlantic City man will be sentenced next month after pleading guilty to robbing and shooting at a taxi cab driver last year.

Last week, Davidson Dominique, 25, pleaded guilty to second-degree robbery and second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office announced.

On April 28, 2025, an Atlantic City police officer was flagged down by a local taxi driver who reported being robbed and shot at near Route 30 and New Jersey Avenue by a customer.

The cabbie told police that he picked up Dominique at the Ocean Casino, then drove him to a requested location. When they arrived, Dominique pointed a handgun at the back of the driver’s head and demanded money.

The taxi driver gave Dominique $100 and his cellphone. When Dominique got out of the cab and tried to run, the driver attempted to follow him. That’s when Dominique fired a shot into the windshield of the taxi, striking the passenger side, prosecutors said.

The driver was not hurt.

Atlantic City man faces prison after guilty plea

Sentencing is scheduled for August 18. The prosecution is recommending five years in New Jersey State Prison.
