From the outside looking in, Maren Morris oozes confidence during every photoshoot and at every live show, legitimizing the cool defiance of "Flavor" and other tracks off her sophomore album, Girl. However, per the singer's cover story in the June issue of Women's Health, she struggles with stage fright and works diligently to stay mentally fit during her precious time away from the spotlight.

"Some parts of it never go away," Morris admits of her live show anxiety. "When I get out there and relax into it, I’m fine ... It’s a gift to sing well and make people emotional, so I don’t take it for granted.”

Morris used to keep that stage fright in check with an old coping mechanism that negatively impacted her vocals: smoking. She's given up cigarettes now, instead choosing carefree after-show chats with her band and crew and tarot cards to relieve some stress.

Per Morris' description, her fascination with tarot cards has more to do with chilling out and discovering different perspectives than metaphysical beliefs. “I do a three-card deck: past, present, future," she says. "It’s not a crystal ball … but it gets your wheels turning about how to think of a situation differently.”

One thing's definitely in the singer's future: more tour dates. Her Girl: The World Tour is currently on the road in the UK and will come back to the United States for a string of summer and fall amphitheater dates. Soon after, Morris will hit the road with Miranda Lambert's Roadside Bars and Pink Guitars Tour.
