A Woodbridge police officer and another from the NYPD were each shot just after midnight in the lobby of a Woodbridge hotel by a "person of interest" in a New York City homicide early Thursday.
The tar balls were first found at Seven Presidents Park in Long Branch and in Monmouth Beach on Nov. 27 with similar oil debris found on the shoreline in Brooklyn and Staten Island.
The Coast Guard in a statement said response crews have removed approximately 1,000 pounds of tar balls and oiled debris from impacted beaches between Asbury Park and Sea Bright.
The beaten, stangled and burned remains of a woman that was only known as "the girl with the scorpion tattoo" was found on the east shore of Staten Island in 1991.
