Staten Island's loss is certainly our gain.

For years, Bruno's Bakery (formerly Pasticceria Bruno) has served the community of Staten Island with delicious baked goods and savory meals.  The family-owned restaurant had two locations, one I was a regular at for a while since it was close to where I went to high school.  My friends and I loved going to Bruno's on Hylan Blvd. for brunch, dessert, and dinner.  If you name something on their menu, we've probably eaten it.

Like me, Bruno's moved to New Jersey when they opened a bakery in Freehold last November.  Now, they're leaving the island for good.  Per Daily Voice, the Settepane family who owns Bruno's has decided to close their last remaining Staten Island store.  Their last day will be Mother's Day (May 14th).

Bruno's new bakery is located at 356 W. Main Street in Freehold.  They're also opening a Gelateria in May, which is a fancy Italian word for gelato shop.  For now, it doesn't seem like Bruno's will be serving their full cafe menu in Freehold.  But, you'll be able to enjoy their scrumptious pastries, cookies, and cakes - which are a real treat.  You can even order online!

It's bittersweet to see the bakery leave Staten Island since I've made so many memories there growing up, but I know they'll continue to thrive in Freehold!  Plus, it's nice not having to pay a toll to enjoy good bakery treats!

Congratulations and best of luck to the Settepane family on their move!
