Childish Gambino busted out a brand new track for his headlining performance on opening night of the 2019 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on Friday (April 12).

Gambino had an extensive set, which saw him run through singles like "Redbone," "Summertime Magic," "Have Some Love," a cover of Gnarles Barkley's "Crazy," "Terrified" from his most recent album Awaken, My Love and, of course, "This Is America." He also premiered something new.

With a tribal feel, the song starts off with Gam appearing to speak in a another language, possibly an African dialect. He then employs the crowd to follow in his chants before kicking off into the frenzied song, which is driven by deep bass and spacey chords. The rapper also debuted the Guava Island film co-starring Rihanna, which is now available on Amazon Prime, and paid homage to Mac Miller and Nipsey Hussle.

Gambino has been building up to the release of his upcoming album. Last July, he put out two new tracks "Summertime Magic" and Feels Like Summer." His mega-hit single "This Is America" earned Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Video of the Year and Best Rap/Sung Performance at the 2019 Grammy Awards earlier this year.

Following the Atlanta creator's show at Coachella, a fire broke out at the festival at a shower structure near the campground where the showcase is held. Witnesses reported hearing an explosion and seeing flames engulf the structure. The fire was eventually put out and no injuries were reported. The Riverside County Fire Department has announced the cause for the fire as a mechanical failure of the heating unit used for water. The show must go on.
