Must Have Items All New Jersey Drivers Need This Winter
The cold weather has the potential to bring many challenges for New Jersey drivers trying to get to where they need to go this winter.
Staying safe and secure while out on the roads is of the utmost importance.
Snowy and icy road conditions can leave you stranded on the side of the road or in a ditch. Both are extremely scary and can be disastrous if you're not prepared.
Weather conditions can become progressively worse in a matter of minutes. You just never know when a simple drive to or from work can turn into a complete nightmare.
It's important to be prepared before heading out for a drive this winter, but what exactly should we have in our cars to help us in an emergency?
NJ.gov has a list of emergency essentials we should all have in our cars during the winter months, including items from the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management page.
You can get the full list on their website, but here are some of the must-have items.
- Cell phone
- Car charger
- Shovel
- Windshield scraper
- Tow rope
- Booster cables
- Bright cloth to use as a distress signal
- Bag of sand or non-clumping cat litter to place under tires if stuck in the snow
- Food and water
- Flashlight
The last thing you want is to be stuck somewhere in New Jersey, in bone-chilling temperatures, with nothing in your car to help you navigate this emergency.
Now is the time to gather these items and put them in your car so you're ready to go this winter!
