Growing Up in New Jersey? You’ll Remember These Halloweens!
Before smartphones, elaborate decorations, and store-bought costumes took over, Halloween in New Jersey was a whole different kind of adventure. And if you grew up here, chances are you remember some of these traditions!
Remember When Halloween in New Jersey Was Like This?
There's something about Halloween that brings back some of our favorite childhood memories. Long before social media showed off everyone's costumes and elaborate front-yard displays, Halloween was all about getting dressed up, grabbing a bag for candy, and racing out the door with your friends.
If you grew up in New Jersey, you probably remember those chilly October nights when you tried to squeeze in as much trick-or-treating as possible. Maybe your parents made you wear a jacket over your costume, even though it completely ruined the look!
And who remembers the excitement of dumping all that candy onto the living room floor when you got home? I think that still happens now, kids love dumping their candy on the living room floor.
Trading your least favorite treats with your siblings was practically a Halloween tradition of its own.
Halloween Was About More Than Candy
For many of us, the memories go beyond the candy. There were homemade costumes, neighborhood Halloween parties, carved pumpkins sitting on the front porch, and houses that became legendary for giving out the really good treats.
