Ocean City Firefighter Kenny Pollock Dies at 47

There is a perceptible feeling of grief today at the news that Ocean City firefighter Kenny Pollock has died.

Pollock, 47, had been diagnosed a little more than a year ago with two rare forms of cancer -- lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma and primary CNS lymphoma.

Kenny leaves behind many friends, family, and loved ones in South Jersey, from his days as a student at Mainland Regional High School, a bartender at Charlie's Bar in Somers Point, and 18 years as an Ocean City firefighter.

Charlie's Bar paid tribute to Kenny Pollock Thursday by turning off their neon entrance sign and posting a moving Facebook remembrance.

Today, Charlie’s lost more than a former employee—we lost family. My best friend, Kenny Pollock, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.

Kenny spent many years at Charlie’s bartending. He made everyone feel welcome and left a lasting impact on so many lives. In his honor, our neon Charlie’s sign will be off tonight.
To me, Kenny was more than a coworker—he was my best friend. We shared countless memories and laughs that I will carry with me forever. His kindness, humor, loyalty, and the way he genuinely cared for others made him someone you could never replace.
The love we have for Kenny doesn’t disappear—it lives on in the stories we tell, the friendships he built, and the countless lives he touched. While our hearts are heavy with grief, they are also filled with gratitude for the time we were blessed to have with him. His memory will continue to guide us, reminding us to laugh a little louder, care a little deeper, and cherish the people around us.
Our thoughts are with the Pollock family, his brothers and sisters at the Ocean City Firefighters L-4032 and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Kenny will always be a part of the Charlie’s family, and he will never be forgotten.

How to find the right words to even come up with for such a great human that I will forever miss. I met Kenny Pollock when I was a brand-new paramedic, still getting to know so many of our local BLS providers.
From the day we met through Jay, I knew I had run into someone whose quick wit and sense of humor made any day better as he was just that: such a funny, silly, and caring guy. Whether it was a phone call, hilarious text messages, or lunch at the station, he had a gift for making this world and profession a better place just by being himself.
Please know that you’ll always be remembered down here—not only for your laughter and friendship, but for the positive impact you had on so many lives, whether it be colleagues or patients. God I’m going to miss the heck out of you. I hope you still make fun of me up there relentlessly in all of the best banter-filled ways.
