Trea Turner Leaves Phillies Game with Hamstring Injury
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner was out of the lineup on Saturday, even though he had outstanding numbers against Marlins right-hander Sandy Alcantara.
Turner carried a .980 OPS with two homers in 42 career plate appearances against Alcantara, but was not in the lineup. He was back on Sunday, but he pulled himself out of the game with what is being called a right hamstring strain.
Trea Turner Leaves Game with Hamstring Strain
Rob Thomson’s Initial Reaction
Phillies manager Rob Thomson told reporters after the game that Turner felt a “grab” in his right hamstring, adding, "There is some concern there, we'll know more tomorrow."Turner’s History with Hamstring Injuries
Last season, Turner missed six weeks with a hamstring injury; the team went 26-15 while he was out of the lineup from May 4 to June 16, 2024.
How the Phillies Could Adjust if Turner Misses Time
If Turner were to miss time, expect Sosa to take over as the everyday shortstop, which means Bryson Stott would likely play second base against left-handed pitching. Turner has also been the team's leadoff hitter, which means Kyle Schwarber would probably slide back into that role. Schwarber hit leadoff on Saturday, with Alec Bohm hitting No. 2 in the lineup.
