New Jersey Elephant Celebrates 137th Birthday
Wooow that's one old elephant!
A Jersey shore favorite had a big birthday. Lucy the Elephant, a wooden statue, turned 137 over the weekend.
It has been there since 1881 and it was originally just a marketing gimmick, but it quickly became a favorite. Now more than 130,000 people go to the statue every year. It has served as a tavern, a residence, and it was even used for weddings.
Happy Birthday Lucy! Here's to 137 more!
