Earlier this week, we told you that Pumpkin Pie was New Jersey's favorite holiday treat.  Now the website mentalfloss.com has posted a list of the favorite Christmas cookies in each state.

Mental Floss says that to come up with the results, "General Mills collected search data from BettyCrocker.comPillsbury.com, and Tablespoon.com, and created a map that shows which recipes are clicked most often in each state."

My first guess on which cookie would top the list would be sugar cookies.  After that, I'd probably go with chocolate chip.

Apparently, chocolate chip was not eligible for the list.  Mental Floss says General Mills omitted the classic cookie because it is the "most-searched cookie recipe all year long."

According to General Mills, Sugar Cookie Cutouts were the favorite in just 4 states --- Arizona, New Mexico, Oregon, and Texas.

Meanwhile, Hershey Kiss Peanut Butter cookies were favs in 7 states, including Pennsylvania.

As far as New Jersey goes, General Mills says the Easy Italian Christmas Cookies recipe was most popular.  (I've got to be honest, I don't know if I've ever had an Italian Christmas Cookie).  You can find the recipe here.
