One thing you can't leave out of the holiday parties is Christmas cookies. Everyone knows they are the best dessert there is this time of year. Whoever is in charge of bringing the cookies to a holiday party has a big job on their hands. This is a job that has to be taken as seriously as making the turkey on Thanksgiving.

It has always been a tradition in my family to bake cookies on Christmas Eve. My parents, my brother, and I would make cookies from scratch and spend our time decorating them into the wee hours of the night. The next day we would take the cookies to our annual Christmas party.

In a new study, Google Trends was used to determine each state's favorite holiday cookie. According to USA Today, these are the most popular cookies that were searched between Nov. 29 to Dec. 6 of this year. The study shows that the Italian Christmas cookie is Pennsylvania's favorite Christmas cookie. If you never had one, it is similar to a sugar cookie but with a slight twist. What makes an Italian cookie unique is its subtle almond taste. The Pioneer woman has an amazing recipe for Italian Christmas cookies if you and your family would like to try.

As for the state of New Jersey, most people would prefer to see Italian Christmas cookies at a holiday party as well.

So what about you? What type of cookie gets your taste buds watering?
