According to NJ.com, Academy Award winning director, Steven Spielberg, plans on filming his new movie in Paterson, NJ.  Spielberg will be directing a remake of the classic film/musical, West Side Story.

Collider says that the movie is slated for a Dec. 18, 2020 release.  Ansel Elgort newcomer, Rachel Zegler, have been cast as the film's leads.

In January, we told you about how New Jersey native, Zegler, had been cast as Maria and how it won't be the first time playing the role.

NJ.com says that Paterson will serve as "a stand-in for the Upper West Side of Manhattan in the mid-1950s."

Marcia Sotorrio, Paterson’s cultural affairs director, told NJ.com that "production has been prepping the set at parking lots next to Center City Mall between Market and Smith streets.

Sotorrio also told NJ.com that, "Dance scenes and musical numbers will also be filmed on Ellison and Washington streets."
