Philadelphia has officially instituted its mask mandate. The city just announced that masks must be worn in any public place, effective April 18, where vaccine cards aren't checked.

The move, which was JUST announced by the city's health commissioner Cheryl Bettigole, will allow businesses the time to institute the measures ahead of next Monday's deadline.

Businesses will once again be required to check vaccine status or require masking indoors.

The mask mandate was lifted just over a month ago, but the move was made as the city has seen a tick up in daily case counts and hospitalizations.

This is a developing story. We'll have more information shortly.
