Looks like parents are going to have to keep a much more watchful eye on their teens this summer here at the South Jersey beach towns.

I don't know if you've notices, but curfew ordinances seem to be getting passed out like Tic Tacs lately, huh?

First up, it was Sea Isle who just as recently as Tuesday, March 28th, passed one that states all persons 17-years-of-age and under are forbidden to be any public place within the municipality without an adult after 10 o'clock at night during the season. That's an awfully early night for juniors and seniors in high school.

They also are forbidden to carry backpacks after 10 p.m.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out why that last bit was added. You know why, right? If not, then here it is, straight up. They don't want minors walking around the city with forbidden substances in there. If they're meeting up with friends and were able to snag some liquor, what are they going to transport it in. A backpack! Ya see???

This whole thing came about from a catalyst of events over the last few summers that had authorities breaking up large groups of teens gathered in various parts of town. Sometimes, it got way too rowdy for kids not even legal to vote yet, amongst other things.

So now, these are the repercussions of those events.

The question now is which town will be next to follow suit? That question was posed to Wildwood residents on a locally-based Facebook page and, truth be told, most residents aren't opposed to a curfew for minors being set up within the city's parameters. Ocean City and Sea Isle will certainly not be the last beach towns to put ordinances like these in place.

Honestly, only time will tell which town will be next.
