The Trenton Public Schools will be closed for all students on Thursday (March 12) and Friday (March 13). The district announced the news Monday evening in a letter sent to the school community.

On Thursday, March 12, 2020, staff will prepare instructional plans for students throughout the district.

“Our goal is to create at least 14 days of lessons for students in the event our schools are closed by the Department of Health due to the Coronavirus,” the district said in the written statement.

Additionally, on Friday, March 13, 2020, the district will be closed for both students and staff as all school facilities will be sanitized at that time.

School officials are reminding us that these are only precautionary measures at this time, and they plan on re-opening for all students and staff on Monday, March 16, 2020.

At this time, there have been NO reported cases of the virus in Mercer County.

The move to close schools is not unprecedented as other districts throughout the area have been making similar decisions to close to prepare for any possible outbreaks.

Additionally, today Princeton University announced plans to cancel all in-person classes for 2 weeks after the school's upcoming spring break. Students will work virtually from March 23 through April 5, according to the university's announcement, which was made on Monday.
