1 in 4 New Jerseyans Admits to Breaking Social Distancing Rules
A company called MyBioSource.com recently conducted a survey to find out how many Americans had complied with social distancing regulations put in place during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.
MyBioSource.com found that overall, 36% of Americans said they had broken social distancing rules, like "visiting friends or family while it was prohibited" during lockdown.
Meanwhile, MyBioSource.com says that only 25% of New Jerseyans said they had broken social distancing guidelines, which was lower than the average, but still a dangerous number.
I think we can all admit that going weeks, if not months, without seeing friends and family in person is extremely difficult, but at least in our part of the country, the guidelines put in place seem to have worked in "flattening the curve."
Meanwhile, many states that were not as strict with social distancing rules are now seeing huge spikes in positive test results and deaths due to the coronavirus.
According to MyBioSource.com, 9 states had percentages of people who broke social distancing rules 50% or higher with South Dakota (71%), Iowa (63%), and Minnesota (58%) topping the list. Louisiana, Maryland, and Mississippi were tied with the lowest percentage (18%).
Here are some of the other interesting findings in the MyBioSource.com survey:
- 16% of Americans are more afraid of a Coronavirus vaccine than of the actual virus itself.
- 70% of Americans say they would wait and see before getting vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine.
- 1 in 5 Americans incorrectly believes that viruses can be treated with antibiotics.
Hopefully, the more time we live with the Coronavirus, the more informed people will get in regards to preventing its spread and how to treat it.
