“Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” is a great campaign to remember this holiday season. Statewide police departments are getting overtime grants in order to be able to have a Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) ticket blitz.

According to NJ.com, over 130 police departments will be apart of the DWI ticket blitz and have been granted close to $600,000 in overtime for the officers working it. It was also mentioned that the DWI ticket blitz is set to start this Friday, December 6.

This holiday season’s DWI ticket blitz is not the first time that it has been done. NJ.com mentioned that last year police officers arrested over 1,200 people that were driving while intoxicated or under the influence of some sort of drug. That number actually drop from 2017 which had even more arrests.

Many cities in our area have received the grant. NJ.com reported that Mercer, Middlesex, Atlantic City, Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Monmouth, and Ocean are amongst the 133 counties that were granted the OT money for the police departments.

Let's make sure we all have a fun but safe holiday season.
