How to Take Yourself Off a Group Text
Did you know there's a way for you to leave a group text? I didn't either. I wish I would have found out this info sooner. Lol.
I'm sure everyone at some point has found themselves in the middle of a group text that they wish had ended about 15 texts ago. Lol. Well, Mashable says if you have an Apple phone, you can exit pretty easily from those group texts that go on and on and on. I was on one last night, with friends, that started after I went to bed. Even though my phone is muted, it virbrates just the littlest bit when a text comes in, keeping me awake. You feel rude asking if they can start a new thread without you, so this is great news.
This is not new information, by the way. This info is from a few years ago, and is now just circulating around social media once again. So, we've been suffering through these (what seems to endless sometimes) group texts for way too long. Lol.
If you have an Apple phone, open the text, click the names at the top of everyone in the group, and you'll see the info button (the little i with a circle around it). When you click the info button, it will give you options whether you want to "Hide Alerts" or "Leave the Conversation." You obviously click "Leave the Conversation" to make a quick exit.
When I tried it though, it wouldn't let me click on "Leave the Conversation." It was gray. There's a reason for that. If that option is gray, it means someone in the group text doesn't have their iMessage turned on or they haven't updated their phone to the latest version of iOS.
If you have an Android, you just have to delete the group text, but, that won't get you out of the group and you can still keep getting messages. Sorry.
Good luck.
