If you’d like a grocery store that goes beyond the usual rows of canned soup and frozen pizza, I have cool news for you.

Sprouts Farmers Market is continuing its New Jersey expansion with another location, this time in East Windsor, and it’s bringing dozens of jobs along with it. The specialty grocery chain plans to open its new store on Aug. 21 at the East Windsor Village shopping center, with a hiring event scheduled for July 21 and 22 to fill 83 full- and part-time jobs.

Sprouts has carved out a niche following by focusing on natural, organic and specialty foods. Here you’ll find plant-based, gluten-free, dairy-free and keto options. I especially appreciate the gluten-free inventory because my oldest son has been dealing with celiac disease for seven years now. Not all grocery stores have a good selection, so this is welcome.

According to NJ.com, the new East Windsor store will become the chain’s sixth location operating in New Jersey when it opens, with even more already in the works. Another Sprouts is scheduled to debut in Sewell at the WWF end of summer, and the company also has plans for a future Toms River location.

The 83 jobs being created cover a variety of positions throughout the store, like cashiers, clerks for various departments, managers, etc.. The hiring event runs 8am to 6pm July 21 and 8am to 5pm July 22. Interested candidates can apply online in advance at sprouts.com/careers or attend the hiring event as walk-ins.

As grocery shopping continues to evolve, stores like Sprouts are betting that customers want more than just the basics. So far that bet is paying off.
