Can't kids have any fun anymore? Most lemonade stands I see in South Jersey are to raise money for a charity of some sort (Hello, Alex's Lemonade Stand). But what if it wasn't? I mean, isn't it kind of a kid's first under-the-table job?

I know, I know, with all that's gone on in 2020 amid coronavirus, it's just not safe to be taking lemonade if it's in a cup and not a sealed container, and you can't say for 100 percent sure what's in it or where it came from.

Well, according to the website OK Whatever, unless they have a permit, a person can't legally put up a lemonade in 36 of the 50 states. unless their operator has a proper permit. The 13 states that do allow lemonade stands are New York, California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, North Dakota, Nebraska, Texas, Missouri, Louisiana, Illinois, Vermont, Rhode Island, and Connecticut.

In some states, the lemonade stand permit isn't cheap. In New York, it costs kids under the age of 16 $30! That's they're whole piggy bank.

So, moms and dads, you better raise your kid's allowance if you let them open a lemonade stand in Jersey this summer. They're gonna need it to bail themselves out of the clink if they don't have a permit.
