After less than a full year of marriage, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have reportedly split. PEOPLE first reported the news Saturday evening, which has since been confirmed by other outlets (including US Weekly).

A representative for Cyrus told PEOPLE that the couple has “agreed to separate at this time.” Saying in part that they decided “this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and their careers.”

Rumors had been swirling all weekend about Cyrus' marriage after she posted an Instagram photo on Saturday where didn’t appear to be a wearing a wedding ring.

The couple had been in an on-again, off-again relationship since 2009 before obtaining their marriage license in December 2018. The couple exchanged vows in a fairly private ceremony at their home in Nashville on December 23, 2018.

“(Miley and Liam) still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy,” Cyrus’ rep told PEOPLE.

Just this weekend, Entertainment Tonight (ET) shared photos of Miley on vacation in Italy exchanging some major PDA with Brody Jenner’s ex-girlfriend, Kaitlynn Carter. ET says the pair were seen cuddling, kissing and swimming at a luxury hotel.

Carter and Jenner only announced their separation last week. They had been together for five years together.
