The Borgata Resort in Atlantic City To Reopen on July 26

The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City will reopen before the end of the month, amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Resort officials made the announcement on Tuesday morning that things will be a “little different than before,” but they say they’re eager to reopen with an enhanced experience for guests.

Atlantic City casinos were permitted to reopen ahead of the Fourth of July weekend. In late June, however, Governor Murphy extended the state's order banning indoor dining and drinking, as COID-19 cases increased across the country. As a result, The Borgata scrapped plans to open at that time.

Borgata officials now say they will open to the general public at 10 am on Sunday, July 26. An invitation-only event will take place ahead of that as well.

“When we reopen, Borgata will introduce new outdoor dining experiences, as well as a convenient takeout program from several of our fine and casual dining outlets,” the Borgata’s president and chief operating officer, Melonie Johnson said in a statement. “Summer is a special time in Atlantic City, and we look forward to playing a part in offering some much-needed entertainment.”

On the resort’s website, they laid out extensive safety plans for their upcoming reopening. These include enhanced to-go and outdoor dining options, extensive cleaning procedures, and a limit on select amenities. The Borgata is operated by MGM Resorts. 

Extensive measures for social distancing will be in place on the gaming floor, and the resorts indoor pools will remain closed. Per the Governor’s order, the property will also adhere to a 25% capacity limit during this time.

The resort’s hotel is now accepting reservations, according to its website.
