The Coldest Town in New Jersey
Just when you thought we had seen the last of temperatures above 40, we get a day like yesterday where highs were in the 60's. (Of course, less than 12 hours later, we were getting snowed on).
Some people hate it when we get a warm day in December because they think it takes away from the festive, holiday season. Not me. I hate the cold, which is why I'm happy that I don't live in Sussex, NJ.
USA Today recently posted a list of the coldest towns in each of the 50 states and Sussex earned that distinction for the Garden State.
According to USA Today, Sussex has an average low temp of 37.9 degrees, but that average drops to 15.8 degrees in January. USA Today also notes that the temp in Sussex is below freezing, on average, 142.6 days per year.
By the way, that's nothing compared to some other states. For example, according to USA Today, Deadhorse, Alaska has an average low temp of 11.6 degrees (and an average low of -23.1 degrees in January). Those stats make Deadhorse the coldest town in America.
