This Burlington County Bakery Is Selling Out Of Their Popular “Fauci Donut”
He's not a famous Hollywood star or musician, but donuts featuring the face of a 79-year-old medical expert are one of the hottest items for sale in our area right now. Yeah, 2020 is a weird time.
JB Bakery in Burlington, New Jersey has created a doughnut that features the face of Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
Fauci is one of the leading medical experts on the federal expert who has been speaking out and guiding Americans with the latest information about the COVID-19 pandemic. While he's been a comforting force for many during the White House press briefings, it is still a little surprising that he'd become the face of a tasty treat.
So how did it happen? Well, JB's owner, Simon, told The Philadelphia Inquirer he had seen a bakery shop in Rochester, NY had done something similar, and he says he figured he could do it better than that.
“I didn’t know if I was going to touch this one because it’s very, very sensitive,” Simon told the Inquirer.
The Fauci special has a butterscotch "COVID cream," with "quarantine" sprinkles, and of course, the doctor's face right in the center of the donut.
If you want one, you may want to arrive early. The donuts have been selling out every day, the bakery's owner tells the newspaper. They've been most popular with nurses, Simon says.
JB Bakery is located at 712 High St in Burlington, New Jersey.
