The West Windsor Police Department has a fairly new Drone Unit, that been assisting officers for about a year now, according to Community News.

The force has 6 drones in total, all but one funded by local charity group, West Windsor Gives Back, which picks a local group each year to help through donations. The drones have given officers a new perspective, making the police department even more effective. But, having a Drone Unit is no easy task. There was an extensive amount of research, required paperwork, certification, and training, training, and more training.

Lt. Danny Mohr, who heads up the Drone Unit, said in the article, "Drones have been around for ages now, but the emergency application is an emerging technology, We’ve taken them to numerous scenes not only in West Windsor, but also in other jurisdictions in Mercer County: Rather than sending an officer into a potentially dangerous situation where they possibly could have gotten shot, one of our drones can fly around and, using the camera, we can make an assessment from a safe distance and within minutes.”
