Do you know what today is?

World Emoji Day!

That's a thing?

It might sound crazy but yes. Emoji's have become such an important part of our lives. Every time we send a message, we are bound to at least accompany it with one emoji or maybe even more.

My favorite emoji is the kissy face.

But wait a minute, who invented the emoji?

According to CNN.com, the first emoji was created in 1999 in Japan by Shigetaka Kurita.

We have definitely come a long way since 1999.

People always say a picture is worth a thousand words and when it comes to emojis I totally agree. Emojis make it easier to add that emotional perspective to a message that words can't.

However, sometimes deciphering a message of just emoticons can be worse than doing math.

As we already know, there is an emoji for almost anything. According to CNN.com, the Emojipedia has over 3,019 emojis.

Wow!

Well for all you emoji lovers, I got some news for you.

Forbes.com reported that Apple will release 59 new emojis most likely in the fall. Some of them will include disability themed emojis, a yawning emoji, a flamingo, an ice cube and even falafel.

I love emojis so I can't wait to check them out.

Happy World Emoji Day!
