It’s National Mutt Day

It's National Mutt Day, otherwise known as National Mixed Breed Day.  According to NationalMuttDay.com, this day "is all about embracing, saving and celebrating mixed breed dogs."

I have three "mutts" and they are the best dogs ever!  Jemma is some type of Westie mix and Baxter and Lady Barkington are Cavalier mixes.  If you go online, you'll find people debating whether or not mixed breed dogs are healthier or have better dispositions than pure-bred dogs.  (Personally, I think each dog is different).

The fact is, "approximately 80% of dogs in shelters are mixed breeds," so if you're thinking about adding a new dog to your pack, please think about adopting a mutt in one of the many shelters in our area.  To find a shelter near you, click here.
