Kelly Preston, ‘Jerry Maguire’ Actress & Wife of John Travolta, Dies At 57
Actress Kelly Preston has died. She was 57. The news of Preston's death broke overnight Sunday. It was first broke by by PEOPLE Magazine.
"On the morning of July 12, 2020, Kelly Preston, adored wife and mother, passed away following a two-year battle with breast cancer," the family's representative told the magazine.
Preston is best known for her roles in movies such as Jerry Maguire and For Love of the Game. She is survived by her husband John Travolta.
"Choosing to keep her fight private, she had been undergoing medical treatment for some time, supported by her closest family and friends," the family’s representative told PEOPLE. "She was a bright, beautiful and loving soul who cared deeply about others and who brought life to everything she touched"
Preston and Travolta wed in 1991. The couple had three children together. She is survived by 20-year-old daughter, Ella, and 9-year-old son, Benjamin. The couple’s son, Jett, passed away in 2009 at the age of 16 after having a seizure while on a family vacation, the BBC reports.
Travolta spoke out about Preston's death early Monday morning.
“It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year battle with breast cancer,” Travolta wrote on Instagram overnight. “She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many."
In 2018, she appeared in the movie Gotti, as Victoria Gotti, the wife of Mafia boss John Gotti. John Gotti was portrayed by John Travolta.
John went on to ask for privacy as the family mourns Kelly's death.
“Kelly’s love and life will always be remembered. I will be taking some time to be there for my children who have lost their mother, so forgive me in advance if you don’t hear from us for a while,” he said on Instagram.
