For years it’s been a staple that you can expect the New Jersey lottery drawing to air on TV just before 8 pm, but that will be changing.

The New Jersey Lottery just announced that their evening drawings will be moving from 7:57 pm to 10:57 pm daily. Lottery officials hope that the later drawings will allow more time (and opportunity) for players to get their tickets for their favorite games.

The changes will go into effect on June 29.

Another big change is that the evening lottery drawings will no longer air on TV. The daily drawings have been airing on WPIX-11 and WPHL-17. They will now be exclusively streamed on the Lottery’s Facebook page and their website.

The Powerball and Mega Millions drawings will still air on WABC-TV (ABC 7 in New York) and WTXF (Fox 29 in Philadelphia).

Additionally bigger jackpots will be offered for Jersey Cash 5 starting June 29.

The Jersey Cash 5 prize will increase from $75,000 to a guaranteed $100,000. Players will now select five numbers from 1 to 45 for the higher pool. Players currently choose numbers from 1 to 43.

“The new matrix allows the New Jersey Lottery to offer bigger, guaranteed jackpots to our loyal Jersey Cash 5 players,” said Executive Director Carey. “In 2019, we awarded jackpot prizes to more than 150 winners. With this change, we will still be able to award plenty of jackpots to players in the Garden State while ensuring the jackpots start bigger and climb faster.”

The time of the lottery’s midday drawing (12:59 pm) remains the same, by the way.
