Newtown has canceled its annual Memorial Day Parade as a result of the coronavirus epidemic. Patch.com reported the news earlier this week.

This coronavirus pandemic is extremely stressful and scary, and I think we all need something to look forward to. The weather is getting nicer and I think a lot of people are looking forward to being outside and not being cooped up in their houses. However, just because the weather is getting nicer, doesn't mean that coronavirus is just going to disappear. There will still be some restrictions in place and annual events will not take place.

Morell Smith Post 440 is the organization that runs the parade, and they've decided to cancel the event. Plus they've canceled their 100th Anniversary parade as well. The message on their website is asking people to check on your loved ones often.

I'm sure a lot of people were looking forward to these parades, so it's very sad that they cannot happen because of this pandemic.
