Pennsylvania Supreme Court Agrees to Review Bill Cosby’s Sexual Assault Case Appeal

After two years of being behind bars, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court is considering reviewing Bill Cosby’s conviction.

According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, Cosby’s legal team has been looking for an appeal review since he was arrested. They went to the Superior Court, who rejected it, then to the Supreme Court. Cosby’s spokesperson Andrew Wyatt said, “We are extremely thankful to the state Supreme Court of Pennsylvania for agreeing to review Mr. Cosby’s appeal. The false conviction of Bill Cosby is so much bigger than him — it’s about the destruction of ALL Black people and people of color in America.”

When the trial first began, Cosby argued that the women who were testifying were too old to remember the actual details of the alleged sexual assault. The supreme court did reject this argument in 2016, so this could mean they could reject his appeal as well.

Cosby is still in prison for drugging and assaulting a previous Temple women’s basketball operations manager, and still says that there was consent and will not apologize for something he, allegedly, did not do.

One of the women who testified against Cosby said, "While everyone deserves for their cries and appeals to be heard, even convicted criminals if anyone’s cries matter most right now, it’s the women who have lifted their voices and selflessly put themselves in harm’s way. They are the true heroes ... We all deserve justice.”
