Plastic! Plastic everywhere! Philadelphia is moving toward the earth friendly initiative of banning single-use plastic bags. The City Council committee voted in favor of a bill that would  go into effect on July 2 to not allow retailers to give out plastic bags. This makes me happy that we are moving in the direction of getting rid of all plastic.

The bill will also move forward on promoting the use of paper bags and retailers will be asked to give them out for single use. The legislation will now go to the full Council. If you are an avid plastic user it is good to know that if the bill is passed, the regulations will apply to all retail establishments. This is including food stores, convenience stores, clothing and department stores, dollar stores, restaurants, food trucks, etc. This is the start of something new and positive in our world and I think all states should adopt this bill.
