The Old Barracks Museum in Trenton has been named The Coolest Museum in the State. Wow. That's right in our backyard. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying I've been there many times for school trips over the years.
It's in good company on this list of the Coolest Museum in Each State, put together by The Discoverer Blog. The Metropolitan Museum of Art was named the coolest in New York, and The Philadelphia Museum of Art was the pick in Pennsylvania. See the rest of the states here.
Trenton is rich in history. According to Community News, it was built in 1758 and  "protected the colonial borders in the French and Indian War. During the American Revolution, it was used in the Battle of Trenton, and after that, it was used as a military hospital specializing in smallpox inoculations, the first of its kind in North America."
If you haven't checked it out, you should. There are guided tours available Monday through Saturday from 10am - 5pm. They also offer a summer camp, The Colonial Summer Day Camp and a lot of other cool events.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens and kids. If you're active in the military, your admission is free.
