Route 1 in Lawrence Township has been re-opened after a gas leak snarled traffic near the Mercer Mall for several hours on Friday morning.

The leak was first reported by Lawrence Township Police around 9:30 am on Monday in the area of the Mercer Mall shopping center.

The police tell Patch.com that the gas main has been repaired to the point where there is "no longer a leak" at this time, but they say that PSE&G remains on the scene to make repairs. There are no hazards present at this time, according to the police.

Traffic has begun to clear out of the area, but some traffic is slowed in the area as of 12 noon.

Of course, if you've been in that area recently, you will know that there is a lot of construction happening around there. It is not clear if that played a role in today's incident.
