It’s gridlock in Bucks County this afternoon.

The Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike has been shut down in both directions due to a serious accident involving a tractor-trailer.

94.5 PST’s traffic is reporting that the accident happened around 3:30 pm near mile marker 43.5 (that’s between Lansdale and Quakertown).

Overhead images from local TV stations appear to show a jackknifed tractor-trailer across the median of the road. It was not immediately clear if there were any injuries in the crash. Here's a video from CBS3's chopper over the scene earlier this afternoon:

Officials are expected to be at the scene of the accident for a while as the cleanup begins.
This is a developing story. We'll have more information when it's made available.
